3 Eye Care Organizations to Donate to This Holiday Season

‘Tis the season! Are you looking for a charity to give your time or money to this holiday season? Consider giving to a charity that ensures people get the eye care they need. Whether eye health is near and dear to your heart or you simply want to find a unique organization to donate to, these three vision organizations are a great place to start.

Optometry Giving Sight

Optometry Giving Sight’s tagline is “transforming lives through the gift of vision” and that is exactly what they’re doing. Created in 2003, the organization currently operates eight fundraising offices across the globe and supports projects in 37 different countries. Its achievements include such projects as building a school of optometry in Eritrea and screening children for vision problems in Tanzania. You can give in a variety of ways, including offering a one-time donation or signing up for monthly donations.

The Iris Network

People who are visually impaired or completely blind still want to be independent. The Iris Network understands this and aims to help those who need assistance in attaining that independence. The organization provides a wide range of services, perhaps making them one of the most comprehensive eye care charities.

Glaucoma Research Foundation

Founded in San Francisco in 1978, Glaucoma Research Foundation is a nonprofit that supports research to find better treatments for glaucoma. To date, the foundation has provided more than $50 million in grants for research, education and support purposes. Its ultimate goal is to find a cure. You can get involved by donating one time or monthly or by hosting a fundraiser.

Are you interested in providing support to a local organization or foundation? Talk to your optometrist in Meridian, ID. He or she can help you determine which charity to provide support to. Don’t forget to make your own appointment while you’re at it!
