3 Simple Ways to Maintain Healthy Vision

Taking care of your vision should always be a priority. Without healthy, clear eyesight, it can be difficult to perform many activities necessary for a good quality of living. In today’s post, Six One Six Vision Center, your trusted eye doctor in Meridian, Idaho, shares three tips for protecting your eyesight and keeping your eyes healthy as you age.

  • Get Your Eyes Checked Regularly: We recommend visiting your expert optometrist in Eagle, Idaho, once every two years for a comprehensive eye exam. Your eye doctor will examine your eyes and look for signs of vision problems and eye diseases. This is the most effective way to know if you need eyeglasses or contacts to improve your vision, and to detect visual health conditions in their early stages.
  • Wear Protective Eyewear: We strongly suggest wearing sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of harmful UV rays when spending time in the sun. Overexposure to UV rays can lead to a number of conditions, including macular degeneration and cataracts. In addition, be sure to wear protective eyewear when doing potentially hazardous activities, like yard work, repairs, and painting.
  • Take Regular Breaks From Your Digital Devices: Too much screen time can have a negative impact on your eye health. To prevent computer vision syndrome, follow the 20-20-20 rule: after every 20 minutes spent looking at a digital device, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away.

You can turn to Six One Six Vision Center for all your eye care needs. We specialize in a wide range of services, including myopia control and dry eye treatment. We also provide quality contact lenses and eyeglasses in Meridian, Idaho. Simply call us at (208) 514-1858 today to schedule an appointment.
