Sunglasses and You

As summer approaches, we all start thinking about going outside to enjoy the great weather and sunshine. We get to enjoy barbecues, laying out in the sun, meals on the patio, going to the lake, and camping. We love to wear our favorite summer attire for these activities, so why not accessorize with a great pair of sunglasses?

Most of us know we should wear sunscreen to protect our skin. But did you know that like your skin, your eyes are exposed to, and potentially damaged by, that same ultraviolet (UV) light? One of the most important features of a good pair of sunglasses is the ability to filter out the UVA & UVB rays that can damage the eye.

Another important feature of a great pair of sunglasses is having polarized lenses, especially for those that spend a lot of time on the water. A good pair of polarized lenses allows you to see the truest colors, reduces eyestrain from the glare of the sun’s rays, and gives you close to 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays.

With so many sunglasses to choose from, the question I hear all the time is… what would work for me? One of the great things about coming to Six One Six Vision Center and seeing me is that we can work together to find you the best sunglasses for you and your needs. We have sunglasses available to accommodate your prescription, or non-prescription sunglasses ready and available. And most importantly, we’ll make sure you look great!
