The Different Dry Eye Treatments We Offer

Dry eye syndrome occurs when the tears you produce are not able to keep your eyes sufficiently lubricated, either because you have too few tears or your tears are poor quality. This problem may compromise your visual comfort.

Lid Hygiene

Blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction are conditions affecting your eyelids that may also lead to dry eyes. Your optometrist may recommend a routine to help remedy these conditions for your.

Nutritional Supplements

Incorporate cold-water fish, like tuna, sardines and mackerel into your diet. They are good sources of omega-3 essential fatty acids, which help keep your eyes moisturized. Your eye care specialist may prescribe supplementation to get get even more of these nutrients into your body. You should also drink plenty of water daily to stay hydrated.

Artificial Tears

Similar to natural tears, artificial tears are a combination of water, oil and mucus. We may suggest applying a few drops regularly to maintain moisture in your eyes. Doing so can reduce your discomfort, enhancing your visual health.

Topical Medications

Dry eye syndrome may cause inflammation of your eyes, making them red and irritated. You may also feel a burning sensation. Your eye doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory topical medications to relieve these symptoms.
