What Happens When You Wear the Wrong Prescription Eyewear?

You will need to wear prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses if you have a refractive error like myopia or hyperopia. it is normal to experience a little discomfort if it’s your first time wearing glasses because your eyes are still adjusting to the lenses. If you have not gotten used to your new eyewear after two weeks, it is best to see your optometrist.

Here are some of the most common problems associated with incorrect prescription eyewear.

Blurred Vision

Even the slightest error in your prescription can significantly affect your vision. Blurred vision can occur as you adjust to your new glasses. Your eye prescription is likely inaccurate if the blurriness lasts for over two weeks. Let your eye doctor know about the issue so they can make necessary adjustments to your glasses.

Headaches and Eye Strain

Your eyes and brain will work harder than they should if you wear outdated or incorrect prescription eyewear. As a result, you could suffer from pain around and behind your eyes. To determine if your glasses are the reason behind your headaches, try taking them off during certain times of the day. There could be an issue with the prescription if you feel fine without glasses.

Dizziness or Vertigo

Difficulty staying balanced and dizziness characterize vertigo. It can occur due to problems with the inner ear and wearing the wrong prescription lenses. Errors with your eye prescription can affect your depth perception, resulting in dizziness. Do you already have vertigo? If so, its symptoms can worsen due to prescription lens errors.
